Rory Grouped With 3 Americans At WGC Match Play

World # 1 golfer Rory has been reportedly teamed with 3 high rated American golfers for Cadillac WGC Match Play that is to be held at San Francisco.

The grouping was decided by a draw that put the Northern Irishman against the reigning FedExCup champ Billy Horschel, along with Brandt Snedeker (7-times PGA champ) & major champ Jason Dufner under round-robin play for the championship to be starting at Harding Park TPC.

The WGC Match Play event, the very first of elite 4 WGC events in 2015, was a famous knockout championship since its foray in the year 1999 till 2014. It implied that grand players were sent for packing on first day.

However, the very format has received a tweak this year with the effort to provide the top seeds good chances to recover from one poor match.

Jordan Spieth, the Masters champion & the 2nd seed in ground of 64, drew Lee Westwood of England, Matt Every of America & Mikko Ilonen from Finland.

Spanish golfer Sergio Garcia, the 10th seed, has been put into a pan-European grouping that consists of Bernd Wiesberger, Jamie Donaldson & Tommy Fleetwood.

.””It is a pan-European team and hence it would be hopefully pretty friendly but then again no easy games”, stated Jamie while speaking about his grouping.

Defending champ Jason Day has been grouped with Zach Johnson & Charley Hoffman from America as well as Branden Grace from South Africa.

There would be 16 four-men groups this time.

The leading player in every group at 2015 WGC has been chosen on the basis of world rankings whilst the remaining names of the groups have been picked through random draw. Every golfer would play other 3 men in the team in eighteen-hole match-play for first 3 days.
